Empowering Girls Through Menstrual Hygiene Education
Menstrual hygiene education and period poverty treatment affect millions of girls globally, especially in Africa. African females are susceptible during puberty because over 85% lack sanitary pads, clean water, and hygiene education. The Red Flower Code empowers girls and women with the knowledge, resources, and support they need to manage their menstrual health safely and with dignity.
We Understand the Impact of Period Poverty
Period poverty hinders education, health, and equality, not simply menstrual supplies. Period products are too expensive for many American girls, who miss 25% of the school year. This causes academic failures, sanctions, and dropouts. In nations like Liberia, females who stain their uniforms during their periods stay home and fall further behind in school.

What are the Consequences of Inadequate Menstrual Hygiene?
Girls and women without menstrual hygiene products risk infections, infertility, and death. In some Liberian villages, girls must use unclean rags, corn husks, and animal feces for period management. These practices foster poverty and inequality and are hazardous.
Stella's Girls works with WASH United, a global WASH organization, to address these concerns. We teach girls and women about period taboos, hygiene, and safe, reusable menstruation pads. Our Menstrual Health Ambassadors in Sierra Leone, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, and Liberia empower their communities by distributing this knowledge.
Partnership with WASH United

Our complete menstrual health management program teaches girls and women how to make reusable, washable pads. These pads can solve period poverty for a year. Through this instruction, they learn valuable skills and gain independence.

Our "Pay-It-Forward" philosophy makes The Red Flower Code stand apart. Young ladies who complete the training are encouraged to teach others. The program's advantages reach more girls and women through this ripple effect, establishing a sustainable empowerment cycle.
